Blockbuster Exhibitions

Where: Denver Art Museum

CPAC’s 59th Annual Juried Members’ Show

When: Through Aug. 6, 2022

Where: Colorado Photographic Arts Center

This tradition showcases CPAC’s talented community of over 550 members and provides artists, both locally and nationally, with an important exhibition opportunity. This year’s esteemed juror is Gregory Harris, the Donald and Marilyn Keough Curator of Photography at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. More than 800 images were submitted by photographers at all experience levels, from which Harris selected 30 works.

Dioramas From Eden

When: Through Aug. 13, 2022

Where: K Contemporary

In Dioramas From Eden, Andrew Jensdotter continues his practice of painting hundreds of layers of iconic pictures of a single subject from Google image searches and popular magazines and then carving through the final amalgamation to create an “original” of his own. What was once representational with a clear focal point becomes a decidedly all-over abstract composition almost archaeological in nature. This laborious and emotional process of erasure synchronizes with the show’s theme: an elaboration on the Garden of Eden and the concept of expulsion from paradise. It derives from a painting called Thistles sold at Untitled Art in Miami in December 2021.

Portrait of a Culture

When: Through Aug. 20, 2022

Where: McNichols Civic Center Building, Denver Arts & Venues

This exhibit features portraits by artists Kelle (Nigeria), Jordan Jones (Florida), and Yazmin Atmore (Denver). Through their works, each artist showcases their unique approaches to portraiture.

Tania Candiani: For the Animals

When: Through Aug. 26, 2022

Where: MCA DENVER — Museum of Contemporary Art Denver

This exhibition explores the interrelationships between human, animal, and non-biological sounds and the rich and fragile nature of the acoustic fabric around us. This solo exhibition at MCA Denver presents artist Tania Candiani’s mesmerizing three-channel video For the Animals, 2020, as well as sculptures, prints, and videos related to this project.
