Skiing and snowboarding are some of the top activities for Colorado residents and we’re spoiled that they’re just a short drive away. However, there are quite a few costs associated with spending your weekend in the high country. Between travel, gear rentals, lift tickets, food, and more- it’s easy to rack up quite the bill. Check out these often underrated ski resorts that will help you save on the slopes.
 

Loveland (Dillon, CO)

Lift ticket costs: $99 for adults, $37 for children (free under 5), $89 for seniors
 
With 1,800 acres of skiable terrain from bowls to gentle greens, this resort is for everyone. Just after the Eisenhower Tunnel, this is a quick trip from Denver. Check out the unique Loveland “punch card” where you pay upfront for day passes, but earn free days as you ski!
 

Monarch (Salida, CO)

Lift tickets: $69-$114 for adults, $59-$84 for teens, $49 – $74 for kids over 6, $5 for kids under 6 and seniors
 
With great snow and enjoyable terrain, Monarch is a local hot spot. With 67 trails, this is some of the best skiing in the state. This is a great resort for a workout with backcountry touring.
 

Eldora (Eldora, CO)

Lift tickets: $94-$169 for adults, $74-$129 for kids up to 15, $29 for kids up to 5, $74-$129 for seniors
 
The lift tickets may not be the biggest steal for Eldora, but all of the other amenities are. Free parking, reasonable rentals, and access to a network of renowned cross-country trails. The resort includes beginning to intermediate runs easily accessed, as well as expert runs and a terrain park.
 

Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin) (Dillon, CO)

Lift tickets” $69-$139 for adults, $79-$99 for kids 15-18, $39-$79 for kids 5-15, free for kids under 5, and $89-$129 for seniors
 
Low-key vibes, high-key terrain, this is a rowdy skier’s dream. With an elevation of over 13,000, great for snowmaking, A-Basin has one of the longest seasons. Check out the weekday discounts for a real score!
 

Sunlight Mountain (Glenwood Springs, CO)

Lift tickets: $59-$72 for adults, $29-$45 for kids, free for children under 5, and $49-$72 for seniors
 
Further from Denver, but worth the haul, this resort offers amazing deals and a variety of runs for skiers of all levels. Score a pack of lift tickets, or for beginnings, bundle your lift tickets with lessons!
 

Ruby Hill Rail Yard, Denver

Full-Day Entry: FREE
 
Shred for free in the heart of the Mile High. You may not be hitting the slopes, but this terrain park allows you to test out your tricks without opening your wallet. Free rentals are also available on certain days of the week, score!
