Local Wine Clubs: Getting Creative With Community Support

Local Wine Clubs: Getting Creative With Community Support

A guiding principle here at Corken + Company is community. We have always looked to our clients, our neighbors, and our local businesses for support and solidarity. One of our other passions: wine. We thought it might be fun to marry the two in this week’s blog post and share a list from 5280 magazine of 6 local wine clubs to try out in the new year.

Restaurants especially have been hard hit by COVID regulations. One of the most recent innovations at many upscale restaurants has been bringing the experience and quality for which they are known to their homebound patrons. The result has been the formation of wine clubs that feature specialty wines you would be hard pressed to find at a liquor store. Many of these clubs also include sommelier tasting notes, suggested pairings, and information on the small-scale winemakers themselves. Try one or try them all!

1. Barolo Grill

This romantic spot on 6th Avenue offering Italian fare and known for its extensive wine list, can now come home with you! As part of a monthly wine club you can receive a trio of curated bottles handpicked by their in-house sommelier and accompanied by homemade grissini. The package options range from $100-$300 and can be picked up or delivered.

2. Beckon

In the heart of RiNo is this eclectic, elevated, and popular eatery. Apart from take-out and an outdoor dining experience “under the stars,” you can explore their wine list from the comfort of your own home. Spend a session with sommelier, Zach Byers, discussing your wine preferences and he will personally select as many bottles as you would like to stop by and pick up. Your options start at $125.

3. Attimo’s

If your new to the wine game, this downtown winery’s club is the one to join. As a Primo member, for only $25 a month, you get two bottles and a glass of wine at pickup. Members of the club also receive special discounts and VIP access to parties and events. For a more seasoned wino, try their Superiore membership for $50 a month which up-levels your two bottles to more premium options alongside all of the other perks. Membership at any level also makes a great gift!

4. Hop Alley

You might not expect it of a hip Chinese restaurant but they surprisingly deliver on an extensive wine list. Their wine director, Jacob Roadhouse, can be emailed directly at [email protected] to join their exclusive club. For $175 a month you receive six curated bottles.

5. Blackbelly

For all of our Boulder residents, you might be familiar with this farmhouse-chic cafeteria. In their wine club it pays to commit. Signing up for six or more months get you 10% off. Their packages start at $99 and include three hand-selected bottles and a booklet to guide you on your tasting journey.

6. Bird & Jim

Nothing polishes off a day spent in the mountains quite like a glass of good wine. If you find yourself in the snowy and charming little town of Estes Park check out their wine club. No commitments and starting at just $25 you can choose one of their featured individual bottles or indulge in a three-bottle pack! Just remember this exclusive club is available for pick up or delivery within Estes Park only. The specialty (yet inexpensive) wine coupled with a scenic drive will make for a worthwhile trip!

So, join a club, pop a bottle, and make it a long pour! We all deserve it after quite a year. Cheers to the fresh start before us and cheers to supporting local business!
